Accessing Donnelly Online Library Resources: Open Access (Free) Databases

A guide to four areas of online resources: Online Card catalog for print books, Databases for article searches, Open Access (Free) Databases for articles and textbooks and LibGuides

Open Access Resources

Open Access (Free) Books, Journals and Textbooks

Open access databases provide free access to academic scholarly articles, journals, and textbooks. The purpose is to increase scholarly communication and to provide resources at ‘no extra cost’ to students. These are reliable sources of information, and the articles can be used in your class papers or research.

This page is divided into two sections:

  • Free Articles and Journal databases
  • Free Books and Textbooks databases. (Scroll down to see this section)

Most databases in this section will have a "Google like" single search box or a list of subject areas to choose from.

You may have a faculty or instructor assign a Open Access (Free) Article, Book or Textbook from this web page. More than likely it will be a link from your class in Canvas.
