Accessing Donnelly Online Library Resources: Library Catalog

A guide to four areas of online resources: Online Card catalog for print books, Databases for article searches, Open Access (Free) Databases for articles and textbooks and LibGuides

How to search for a book at Donnelly Library

Click on the link, “Library Catalog,” or the “Search Library Catalog.”

The link will take you to the Kansas City Kansas Public Library (KCKPL) page. Donnelly College shares a catalog with the public library. The default is set on Donnelly College holdings, but there is an option to search all of KCKPL library holdings. To access KCKPL books, use the drop box at Donnelly College and select all libraries.

To Search for Print Books

You can start typing in the blank box next to green “Catalog Search” button. Default on search is “all fields” which is a key word search. That is, it will look for your “key words” in all fields.”  You can use the drop box on “all fields” to narrow your search to: Title, Author, or Subject, etc.

If you cannot find the book you want at the Donnelly library, you can request a book from KCKPL library.  The librarian (or work study student working in the library) will take your request and order the book for you.

If you have a KCKPL Library eCard, and you want to pick up a reserve a book from your nearest library branch you can use the “Place Hold” listed on the right side of the book title in the catalog. (Note: The “Place Hold” will not work if you want the book sent to Donnelly, you will need to request this from the librarian or library work study student.

To checkout books, use your “elibrary” bar code that is on the back of your Donnelly Id.  If you do not have your id on you, we can look up your name and check out books.  If you do not have a Donnelly library eCard (bar code) you can request one at the Donnelly College Library.

Any questions? Ask your librarian, Carol Doms, or send an email to library@donnelly.edu.
